Frequently Asked Questions about Therapy and Coaching

How long does each therapy session take?

Sessions are usually 50 minutes long unless we have agreed to change the duration to 90 minutes. This could be indicated in the case of some trauma work or when I see both partners in a couple.

How much do sessions costs?

For individuals, a 50 minutes session is £90 but if the duration changes, the rate is adjusted accordingly.

Do you accept insurance?

I am registered with a range of private medical insurance providers. If you wish to pay through your insurance providers, please let me know in our introductory call. Some insurance providers require a referral from your GP, please refer to your policy as I do not have access to it. The private medical insurance providers I am registered with are AXA, AVIVA, Vitality, WPA and Aetna Global Benefits.

Do you only work online?

I am now able to offer both remote and face to face sessions. My clinic is based in Central House, opposite the Finchley Central Tube Station, London, UK. If you are interested in face to face sessions, please contact me.

How many sessions will I need?

Most of my clients have between 10 to 20 sessions with me, with some having more than this.  Because I enjoy working longitudinally and tackling childhood trauma, 20+ sessions are usually required. However, you will notice a change in yourself early on and once we build a good rapport, sessions can take place less frequently, every 2-3 weeks.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you are unable to attend your session, please contact me more than 24 hours in advance. Cancellation within 24 hours may be counted as a ‘missed session’ and will be charged at the full session fee.

I am not based in the UK. Can I still work with you?

I am accredited and insured to provide therapy worldwide, so you are more than welcome to work with me. However, if you are based in the US or Canada, I can only provide you with coaching due to differences in how therapy licensing works. You will just need a device such as a laptop or a smartphone with ZOOM installed to access sessions.

Is what we discuss confidential?

The information discussed in our session is confidential, however, this may be discussed with my own supervisor where no identifiable details will be given. Sometimes, it is also necessary to break confidentiality in order to keep you safe. For example, if I believe you are at a risk to yourself, to others or from others, then I might need to involve other professionals such as your GP or the police. In these cases, I will try my best to notify you and obtain your consent before I take such action.

Are you taking on supervisees?

I love teaching and sharing my knowledge with others, so most definitely yes. I am fully accredited with the BABCP so can provide you with supervision if you are in training, recently finished or are just starting in private practice. In the work that I do, I incorporate schema, ACT, CFT and Mindfulness and I enjoy working with childhood trauma and relationship issues. If you want to learn more, book an introductory call or drop me an email.

What happens in the introductory call?

This is a 15 minutes free consultation where we explore a few of the issues that are going on in your life, what is motivating you to seek therapy or coaching, as well as discuss your goals and what you want to achieve. You have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have as well as discuss how therapy or coaching would be able to help.

I have more questions, what should I do?

If you have any questions that have not been answered anywhere on this page, then please feel free to drop me an email at info@ioanarotaru.com or book an introductory call with me. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have!
