About Ioana
"No fluff" therapy to reconnect with your true self
I am a therapist and I also know what it is like not to feel good enough, to think that you are stuck, lacking purpose and to be too overwhelmed to change anything because you do not even know where to start.

I also know what it is like to overcome these, to get to a point where you have the confidence that the relationship you want is within reach and to live feeling connected to your true values.
My job is to be a therapist but my mission is to empower you to build secure, happy and fulfilling relationships with yourself and others!
My approach
We know that our unhealed wounds from the past still have the power to affect both our relationship with ourselves and that with others. Our early life experiences influence the beliefs we develop about ourselves, the world and our future. These beliefs then shape our reactions, behaviours and interactions we have with other people.

But we don’t have to remain stuck, feeling lost and hopeless, continuously sabotaging ourselves and our relationships or projecting our insecurities onto others. Healing is possible and I take a no fluff approach to it, using my knowledge and experience in a range of therapeutical models that focus on supporting you to love all parts of yourself again.

My approach involves:

-
Processing and healing from unwanted memories, situations and events that are still bothering you in the here and now
-
Learning to connect with your needs that have been neglected for far too long
-
Increasing self-awareness so you can be present in the here and now rather than stuck worrying or ruminating
-
Learning to take committed action to create a life that holds meaning for you
-
Understanding how you are sabotaging and finding ways to break out of these vicious cycles
-
Learning to separate from the negative, self-critical thoughts that dominate your life
-
Building self-compassion so you can connect with the human, not the robot, in you
-
Learning how to navigate conflict so you can manage it in non-violent ways
-
Providing you with a safe, non-judgmental and empathetic space where you can be yourself
-
Empowering you with all the psychological knowledge you need to connect with yourself and others

Your past cannot be rewritten. What has already happened is now part of your life’ story. But what we can do is heal whatever is still triggered so we can give ourselves and our relationships a chance to flourish and truly become secure, happy, and fulfilling.
The focus is on you.
I am in the trenches with you, I don't just spew theory.
Nothing gives me more joy than working with someone who is willing and ready to explore and change some of the unhelpful ways trauma affected their lives. I am your biggest cheerleader, I am here to support you along the way, and the more effort you put in, the more I give you.

I help you make sense of repeating unhelpful patterns
I help you make sense of how what has happened to you has shaped your view of yourself and the world as well as help you to understand your behaviours and reactions. It is not always about getting rid of these patterns as often they have served a great purpose in your life, but it is about empowering you to make choices that align with your values.

I am not a one-trick pony
My training is in cognitive behavioural therapy, however, in my work, I blend in various approaches. Coming to therapy is meant to serve you, rather than you having to fit into a predefined box. My work is informed by knowledge and experience in CBT, schema therapy, compassion-focused therapy, mindfulness and attachment theory.

I use a trauma-informed approach
At the heart of what I do is working using a trauma-informed lens which often means taking into account more than just our thoughts and behaviours. It means understanding our past in context, understanding ourselves and our human needs, and working with the body to let go of trauma.
